HIGHLIGHTS: The Inca trail excursion in Peru is the number one trek of the region and one of the best known and popular in the world. Offering 4 days of hiking along original Inca roads and paths, the Inca Trail is filled with a variety of fascinating Inca sites, beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna.
The variety in FLORA seen in the Inca Trail includes ORQUIDEAS (e.g “WAQANKI” Masdevallia Veitchiana, “ANGULOA VIRGINALES”, “AZUCENA” Sobralia Dichotoma and others), BEGONIAS, BROMELIADS and BAMBOO.
The variety in FAUNA seen in the Inca Trail includes Andean Deer, Andean Fox, Chinchilla and BIRDS such as the Andean Condor, Killichu, and American Sparrow.
The National Park of Machu Picchu and The Inca Trail are sites everyone should do once in their life. The Inca Trail is for travelers of all ages wishing to experience a hike through typical Andean valleys, cloud forest, pastures, Inca buildings to Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

DAY 3PACAYMAYO- CHAQUIQOCHA- WIÑAYHUAYNA

We will start the day by drinking the highly recommended and effective mate de coca (coca tea) to prevent altitude sickness. We will then enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our group’s cook before beginning the hike. We will begin hiking to reach the archaeological site of RUNKURAQAY and later the highest point also known as RUNKURAQAY (3,950 m.a.s.l.). This will take approximately 2 hours and will be mostly uphill. From here we will descend for approxmately 1 hr to the next archaeological site of SAYAQMARKA (3,600 m.a.s.l.) to visit the tbeautiful Inca constructions. We will then continue hiking to our lunch spot known as CHAQUIQOCHA. Here, will enjoy our lunch and take a short break before continuing on. After lunch, we will continue hiking to our next beautiful archaeological site of PHUYUPATAMARKA (3,600 m.a.s.l.). From here we will continue hiking and will enter towards brow of jungle region. We will descend for approximately for 3 hours to WIÑAYHUAYNA (2,700 m.a.s.l.), where we will have our tea time or happy hour, dinner and spend the night.

DAY 1CUSCO – PISCACUCHO KM 82 – WAYLLABAMBA

We start the day with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 5 am. From Cusco, we will be going to Ollantaytambo and then to Piscacucho KM 82. In this place we meet with our support staff and then we have to register to enter the Inca Trail. From the trailhead, we will start walking for around 2hrs until our lunch spot known as MISKAY. After lunch, we will have a short break before continuing with the hike. From the lunch spot, we will continue hiking and will pass the archaeological site of Patallaqta (2,760 m.a.s.l.) where you will observe some terraces. This site served as a resting place for all travelers of different places that took this route to the enigmatic site of Machu Picchu. The hike for this day will take approximately 4 hrs along a distance of about 12 KM to our day’s campsite – Wayllabamba. Once in Wayllabamba, we will enjoy of tea time or happy hour before dinner time.

DAY 2WAYLLABAMBA – WARMIHUAÑUSQA PASS – PACAYMAYO

We will start the day by drinking the highly recommended and effective mate de coca (coca tea) to prevent altitude sickness. We will then enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our group’s cook before beginning the hike. Once ready, we will beginning from our campsite to the highest known point, the Warmihuañusqa Pass (4,215 m.a.s.l.). This hike will be mostly uphill and for approxiamtely 5 hrs. At the pass, we will have incredible panoramic views of the Andes in the Cusco region. From here, we will descend to our next campasite and lunch spot at PACAYMAYO for approximately 2 hrs. Here, we will grab lunch and rest off the reminder of the day in your tents. In the afternoon just before dinner, we will enjoy our teatime or happy hour. At night, you will have the opportunity to observe all visible constellations, stars and shooting stars.

DAY 4WIÑAYHUAYNA – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

This will be the most important day of our trek. We will begin our day early to pass the control and hike for approximately 2 hrs until reaching INTI PUNKU (commonly known as the Sun Gate). This spot is the official end of the Inca Trail. It is also from this spot, from where we will appreciate the beauty of MACHUPICCHU with the first sunrays. After enjoying the views, we will descend to Machu Picchu archaeological park. This will take approximately 1 hr. Once inside Machu Picchu, we will have a guided tour of 2 hrs and visit the most important places including the Temple of the Sun, the Pacha Mama Temple, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Temple of Condor. After the guided tour of Machu Picchu, you will free time to explore and enjoy Machu Picchu on your own. This will be the perfect moment for you to fully explore one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World while taking many photographs.
You will 02 options to descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes:

1st option: Continue walking to the town of Aguas Calientes for approximately 1:30 hrs.
2nd option: Take a bus for an extra cost of USD $12 to the town of Aguas Calientes Once in Aguas Calientes, you will have time to grab lunch, visit the town’s thermal and medicinal hot springs and/or walk around the town to visit the craft market. Your return train will have a departure time of 18:20 pm from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo you will take a bus from Ollantaytambo back to your hotel in Cusco.

INCLUDE

  • Information session (briefing) before the trek departure – You will meet with your guide at your hotel for an orientation about the excursion.
  • Transportation – The bus will come to your hotel in Cusco for pickup in the morning Day 1 and will take you to km 82 (trailhead).
  • Experienced, Bilingual Guide – The service is available in both English and Spanish.
  • Personal tent – Our 4-man tent will be arranged for 2 people for comfort and room.
  • Camping equipment including dining room, kitchen tent, tables and chairs. Our support staff will carry all camping equipment.
  • Accommodation – 3 nights camping.
  • Duffle bag – In here you can pack your personal things for a maximum of 7 KG (including your sleeping bag).
  • Porters – To carry camping equipment and food.
  • Chef –The cook will prepare all the food throughout this trip.
  • Meals – 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners and snacks (vegetarian, vegan or special menus may be catered for at no extra cost).
  • Morning tea – We will give you the morning tea “mate de coca” every morning.
  • Teatime or Happy Hour – We will give you teatime just one hour before dinner.
  • Daily snacks – Provided on Day, 1, 2 and 3. Our snacks consist of local fruit, cookies, chocolate and candy.
  • Garbage Bag – This bag is to avoid throwing garbage to nature because we respect the PACHAMAMA (MOTHER EARTH).
  • Water for personal grooming – We will provide you with a small basin of lukewarm water every morning along with a small towel.
  • Train Tickets from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
  • Transportation back to Cusco –The bus will pick you up from Ollantaytambo to bring you back to your hotel in Cusco.
  • OXYGEN TANK – Includes first aid.
  • Plastic rain poncho
